Howie Shareff D.D.S.
Dr. Howie Shareff has been passionate about participation in his career, family, and community. Dentistry brought out his ability to provide direct care to his patients in a trusted and gentle manner. These relationships supplied him with perspectives on thousands of people's health habits. He found that emotional stress and physical strain were tolerated but not addressed. This often resulted in teeth grinding and jaw joint problems (TMJ). These problems, combined with his own issues ( physical challenges from treating patients, recreational sports, and arthritis), led Dr. Shareff to create a beginner's yoga DVD. The goal was to provide a program that allows anyone to practice yoga anywhere, anytime.
In 2007, several key events occurred. The DVD was produced with Julie's participation and insights. Dr. Shareff sold his dental practice due to advanced arthritis. His baby boomer body became too physically challenged to manage his clinical practice.
In 2008, a new avenue of teaching yoga emerged. Just last May, Dr. Shareff received certification at the Kripalu Yoga Institute to teach chair yoga. This advanced teacher training provides the tools for helping those participants who are limited to a chair for support or lack of space to be seated for an entire session. He begins the chair yoga classes in July.
Julie Rosier
Julie Rosier has been practicing yoga since 1992 and teaching yoga full time since 1997. She is a twice Certified Yoga Instructor. Her initial training began in 1996 at the Kripalu Centerfor Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA. In 1998, she completed the NC Esther Myer's Yoga Teacher Training a 2 year 500 hour training.
Julie is a Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher at the 500 hour level (R.Y.T. 500); and a Certified Acu-Yoga Instructor (Acupressure Institute, Berkeley, CA). She studied and worked with the late, Esther Myers, for almost ten years; first as a student, then as an assistant in the teacher training and finally teaching teachers.
She has a loyal following of almost 100 students who love her classes, and several support teachers that extend her warm and caring style. Julie guides her students to focus on being in the body, finding the breath and relaxing into the pose. Her teaching philosophy is that anyone can learn and benefit from yoga. No-one is too old, too inflexible or too out of shape to learn yoga. To learn more, visit Julie's web site, www.yogawithjulie.com. You can email her at julie@yogawithjulie.com
